Team Spotlight Time—Meet Amy Walker

Amy Walker1. Tell us your job title and a little bit about what you do everyday at work.
Customer Care Manager—a little bit of everything. I talk to customers about their orders when they are placing them, changing them, or have any questions about them. If something goes wrong upon delivery, we follow up to make sure the customer is ultimately satisfied and that we will not lose their business based on whatever happened. I’m also responsible for labor costs of the CC department and the needs of Leah and Mandie. I analyze sales data to help become more efficient, partner with operations, and help decide how to make things better and more smooth for both CC and the locations. I also work with Accounting to get invoices paid, make sure details about sales tax is correct, answer questions for customers regarding invoices, and send them invoices when they have misplaced theirs. I enter in orders and ensure they are correct, check reports to help find any errors that may occur, and answer questions from Marketing Dude which is ALL the time (here are more questions now, they never stop!). I also work with him a little bit to see what we can do to increase sales with marketing.

2. Have you always been in this industry? If not, what brought you where you are today?
I’ve been in retail and customer service for a lot of my career, but not in catering. I needed a job that was in line with my career path while finishing school and this is what I found. I worked in retail from the time I was 18 until about 29. Some of that time included Retail Management. For two years, I worked for Product Development for Disney World in Orlando, FL. I assisted buyers with the buying, development, and sourcing of the product as well as inventory and purchase order tracking. Got to work with some great companies such as Lucas Films, HK Management (Aerosmith), Coca-cola, Pixar, GM, and vendors from all over the world.

3. What’s something you love about working at Coolbaker’s?
The great people and not having to work weekends. I also love that it is a mix of working with people and working with numbers. My position is fairly new so there are many things I can look at and analyze in order to make the department and the company better.

4. Tell us a little bit about what you do for fun when you’re not at work.
Well, I am also a student (at least until December) so a lot of my time is in class or working on projects when I am not working. I love hanging out with my friends when I get the chance and meeting new people. I also love the nights when I can curl up with my kitties and watch a good movie and relax.

5. If you could do one thing for a living that had nothing to do with your current job, what would it be?
I would love to be back in Product Development and Buying again. I also would like to own a specialty gift shop which would contain buying and going to market. My mom owned a specialty gift shop and eventually I hope to have my own or even partner with my mom.

1. Tell us your job title and a little bit about what you do everyday at work.
I am a customer care representative for Coolbaker’s and act as a liaison between our four locations and our customers. We receive and process orders, as well as assist the locations with daily processes.

2. Have you always been in this industry? If not, what brought you where you are today?
I have basically always worked in customer service in one way or another, so this was an easy fit. I knew that my experience would be valuable in this position, which is why I chose to work for Coolbaker’s.

3. What’s something you love about working at Coolbaker’s?
I really love the people that I work with. Enjoying your time on the job makes life so much easier! It’s nice to look forward to working with my colleagues every day and I really have fun when I am there.

4. Tell us a little bit about what you do for fun when you’re not at work.
When I am not working I am cheering on my daughter in the numerous sports that she plays. I also enjoy boating and lake life, so summer is my favorite season.

5. If you could do one thing for a living that had nothing to do with your current job, what would it be?
If I could do one thing for a living that has nothing to do with this industry, it would be to work for some sort of non-profit organization. Giving back and helping people out fulfills me in more ways than anything else I have ever experienced. My dream job would be to work somewhere that I could make a real difference in people’s lives.
